Anna + Houston

How they met

Houston and Anna met at Samford University when Houston was a junior and Anna was a freshman through Anna's brother, Michael. Michael had met Houston when he was a senior in high school touring different colleges. Michael was headed to a business class at Samford University in Birmingham when Houston introduced himself. When Anna's brother decided to attend Samford they quickly became good friends. A year later, Anna came to Samford as a freshman and as any good brother would do, Michael showed her around Birmingham and introduced her to his best friends, one of them being Houston. That next summer, Houston and Anna started talking more often. When the fall came for Anna to start her sophomore year and Houston to begin his senior year they started dating. Before asking Anna out, Houston asked Michael for permission to take her out on their way back from the gym. Michael said yes and that weekend Houston took Anna out on their first date, and the rest is history!

Anna and Houston REALLY excited about a Chi O Derby Party!

While at Samford, Houston played on the men's golf team for three years and graduated in 2011 with a marketing degree from the Brock School of Business and a Spanish minor. While at Samford, Anna was a Chi Omega and joined the Panhellenic Council her junior year. Anna was also in the business school and graduated in 2013 with an entrepreneurship degree. 

The proposal

Houston and Anna got engaged on Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Birmingham. After a fun day with a picnic and walk around Mountain Brook and the Botanical Gardens, they went back to Anna's apartment and Houston's mom and Anna's brother and sister had decorated her apartment with tons of gorgeous flowers and candles. Houston got down on one knee and told Anna how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Anna said yes and they got to celebrate with friends and family at a surprise engagement party!

April 20th, when Anna and Houston got engaged in Birmingham, Alabama.

Wedding

Houston and Anna's wedding was in Orlando, Florida, where Anna and her family are from, in the spring of 2014, 11 months after they got engaged. The wedding colors were mint and gold, with a southern and formal style with a whimsical decor. There were around 225 guests that came to celebrate the love between Anna and Houston on their special day.

Since Samford golf had been such a big part of Houston's time in college, his groom's cake was decorated for his love for Samford golf. And the best part, was that it was Funfetti flavored!
